Sand Dune 20″X16″
Product
Capture: December 2006, 200mm, f8.0, 1/350sec
Death Valley National Park, CA
I mad a trip to Death Valley National Park in December to beat the unbearable heat it has during the summer months and in hopes there would be fewer visitors. Getting up before daylight to trudge through dune after dune of sand to capture the contrast between the bright reflection of the sun on the sand and the shadows it cast was well worth it. It was so quite and still this morning, not a breath of wind and only a few other photographers scattered along the ridges, all hoping to capture a moment they could relive again and again.

Nooksack River, Mt. Baker National Recreation Area
After months of COVID 19 restrictions, I was finally able to get out and do some exploring in the Mr. Baker National Recreation Area outside of Concrete, WA. The rivers had a nice flow from the snow melt and everything was green and beautiful. So nice to get outside and capture images of the amazing Pacific Northwest.
Water Droplets on Fence 16″X12″
Product
Capture: January 2020, 50mm, f10, 1/40sec
Seattle, WA
Winters in Seattle can be very wet and I hadn’t been out with my camera in weeks. I went out into the yard during a break and was intrigued by water droplet on some mesh netting I had been using on my plants. The textures and depth of the round droplets clinging to the straight lines of the mesh were captivating. Often beauty is right before us in the smallest of details.
Snowy Mountain B W 36″X20″
Product
Capture: June 2021, 24mm, f10, 1/400sec
Mt. Rainer, WA
Another hopefully photographic expedition to Mt. Rainer. The high cirrus clouds masked the beautiful colors of the sky and forest. Converting the image to black and white redirects the focal point of the image to the lone cloud above the mountain. Mt. Rainer often has very unique clouds just over the peak and this image captures this unique feature.

Carl S. English Botanical Gardens, U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Ballard, WA.
I enjoy visiting the Botanical Gardens adjacent to the Ballard Locks throughout the year to see what photo opportunities I may find. The locks were built to provide a navigable route from Lake Washington to Puget Sound over 100 years ago. The Botanical Gardens were created on the adjacent Army Corp of Engineers land. The Botanical Gardens and Locks receive more than 1 million visitors per year.

Along Stevens Canyon Rd., on the South side of Mt. Rainer a small waterfall of melted snow had eroded the snow bank along the road and created this unusual image.
Water on Rocks 30″X20″

Capture: September 2021, 70 mm, f22, .4 sec
Boulder Creek, Winthrop, WA
I took a trip over the Cascades to Eastern WA to explore around Winthrop, WA, an historic town that has retained it old Western charm. This image was taken along the Chewach River, along a peaceful valley leading up to the Andrews Creek Trailhead. About 20 miles North of Winthrop. There must have been a fire several years back as the landscape along the river was punctuated with the charred remnants of a once thriving forest.

Mt Baker, Picture Lake Viewpoint, Lodge Lakes
On the way to Artist Point I stopped at the Mt. Baker Ski Area, Lodge Lakes. The sun was blindingly bright and the grass growing in the lake created a mesmerizing pattern against the dark waters.
